Players and photos: the app remembers who you play with
People who play often play mostly with the same people. From version 1.2.0 TennisScore remembers them: you pick the names from a list instead of typing them every time, and each player can have a photo that goes with them on the scoreboard, in the summary and in the pages you share. Everything stays on your phone.
Picking the players for a new match
- Tap “New match” and pick tennis or padel: below are the player slots, two in singles and four in doubles.
- Tap a slot: your players list opens, most recent first.
- Type a few letters to filter the list, or a new name: the last row adds it.
- Tap “Start”. From then on the player is in the list for the next matches too.
The list builds itself
There is nothing to set up. At the first launch after the update the app fills the list with the names from the matches you have already played, and in doubles it splits the two names of a pair. After that, every new match adds its own.
Placeholder names, like “Player 1”, never enter the list: they are only there to start quickly when the name does not matter.
A photo for each player
Next to every name there is a circle: tap it to take a photo or pick one from the gallery, then frame the face inside the circle. You can do it from the new match form, from the players list or from the end-of-match summary.
The photo shows on the scoreboard, on the point buttons, in the summary, in the match detail and in the shared pages, as images or as a PDF. In doubles each pair has its own row, with the two faces in front of the names.
Every match keeps the faces of that day
When a match ends it keeps a copy of its players' photos. If you later change someone's photo, the matches already finished stay as they were: the history tells each match with the faces of that day.
Matches played before the update stay without photos, because there were no photos then.
Rename, merge, delete
“Manage”, in the new match form, opens the full list. There you can change or remove a photo, fix a name and delete someone who no longer plays: the matches already played do not change, with the name and the photo they had.
If you rename a player with the name of another one who already exists, the app offers to merge them into one: handy when the same person ended up in the list twice.
Where names and photos stay
The list and the photos stay only on your phone: they are not sent to the app's servers, to spectators or to the watch. People following a match live see the names of who is playing, as always, but not the photos. The photos are not included in the Android cloud backup either.
Photos leave the phone only when you decide: in the match pages you share, and when you hand a match to a partner's phone with the direct transfer. If you photograph someone else, do it with their consent.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to create the players before playing?
No. Just type the name at the new match: it enters the list by itself. And the list starts already filled with the names from the matches you have played.
If I delete a player, do I lose their matches?
No. The matches already played stay in the history with their name and photo. The player only disappears from the list you pick from.
Do spectators see the players' photos?
No. People following the match with the code see names and score. The photos stay on the phone of whoever keeps the score.
